Postponement Policy:
- Postponement requests must be made in writing to ip@ce.uci.edu according to the following:
- Within 14 calendar days of the program start date for Certificate programs
- There is no additional charge for the first postponement only. Any additional postponements for any reason require a new $200 application fee and deposit.
Cancellation & Refund Policy:

- Prior to the program start date: 10% of the tuition amount will be charged
- Prior to the end of the 5th day of program: 50% of the total tuition and refundable fees

Postponement Policy
- Applicants may request to defer their program start date to the next available quarter by submitting a written request to ip@ce.uci.edu within 14 calendar days of the program start date. Requests submitted 14 calendar days after the start date will result in forfeiture of the Program Deposit. The UCI DCE Admissions Office reserves the right to deny any deferral request that lacks sufficient evidence.
- Once approved, the UCI DCE Admissions Office will issue a new Letter of Acceptance and Form I-20 for a later start date. Applicants who defer to a program with higher tuition and fees will be required to pay the corresponding difference.
- The Program Deposit will roll over to the new start quarter for the first deferral request at no additional charge. Any subsequent deferral requests require a new Program Deposit and a $200 postponement fee.

How to Request a Cancellation
All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to ip@ce.uci.edu. Refunds will be processed within 30 business days of approved cancellation requests.
Refund Eligibility
- Student-Initiated Cancellations Before Program Start Date
- Cancellation requests received prior to the program start date are eligible for:
- Refund of tuition and refundable fees less the Program Deposit (non-refundable)
- Non-refundable fees include Application Fee, Program Deposit, and Document & Administrative Fee.
- Cancellation requests received prior to the program start date are eligible for:
- Student Visa Denial Exception
- The Program Deposit may be refunded only in cases of Student Visa denial when ALL the following conditions are met:
- Written notification is submitted to the UC Irvine DCE Admissions Office prior to the program start date
- The original written documentation from the U.S. embassy or consulate verifying Student Visa denial is received by the UCI DCE Admissions Office
- The Program Deposit may be refunded only in cases of Student Visa denial when ALL the following conditions are met:
Important: Visa freeze, travel ban, or embassy closure do not qualify as visa denial and are not eligible for Program Deposit refunds.
UC Irvine DCE-Initiated Cancellations or Postponements
- If UC Irvine DCE cancels or postpones a program intake:
- Students will be offered the opportunity to attend the program at another available quarter.
- If the student is unable to attend at a later quarter, the following will be refunded:
- Tuition and fees paid
- The following fees are non-refundable even in UC Irvine DCE-initiated cancellations:
- Application Fee
- Program Deposit
- Document & Administrative Fee
No Refund Circumstances
No refunds or tuition credits will be issued under any other circumstances, including but not limited to:
- Cancellations or withdrawals after the program start date
- Student dismissal for academic or conduct reasons
- Personal, medical, or family emergencies
- Travel restrictions or personal visa issues not meeting the Student Visa Denial Exception criteria above
- Changes in personal circumstances or plans

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Tuition & Fees Payment Deadline: 5 days prior to the start of the Resume Writing & Interview Workshop. Students must participate in this workshop during their ACP directly preceding the Internship Practicum.
Late Fees (Non-refundable): 10% of tuition
Refund Policy:
- Cancellations must be requested via email to dce-internships@uci.edu
- Prior to the start of the Resume Writing & Interview Workshop: 100% of refundable fees
- Prior to the start of the 3rd week of Resume Writing & Interview Workshop: 75% of refundable fees
- Prior to the start of the Internship Practicum: 50% of refundable fees
- No refunds after the Internship Practicum start date
Postponement Policy:
- Postponement requests must be made in writing to dce-internships@uci.edu according to the following:
- At least 7 days prior to the Internship Practicum start date
- Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis for exceptional circumstances as approved by the Internship Program Office
- Students may only postpone a maximum of 1 quarter and must complete another ACP directly preceding the Internship Practicum
UC Irvine Division of Continuing Education reserves the right to cancel, reschedule or combine courses; to alter or discontinue curricula; and to change instructors. We make every effort to offer courses as scheduled. We are committed to notifying enrolled student at least two days prior to the start date of a course in the event a course will be canceled or postponed. Our primary method of communication for these notifications is by email. Please be sure to keep your email address up to date so you are promptly notified of any change related to your course.
