In our current virtual world, there are many learning opportunities to choose from, but which one will be both engaging and give you something tangible to use right away? This session defines what virtual learning is, what benefits it provides, what you can expect in a virtual learning environment, and how you can determine if that learning experience is one of quality. If you are looking for a virtual learning opportunity for yourself or if you are sourcing experiences for your workforce, this webinar will give you insight on how to find what is right for you and how to partner with UC Irvine Division of Continuing Education.

Speaker: Valerie Polunas, M.A., has spent 18 years in the field of education, focused on leadership development, career skills, and cross-cultural understanding programs. During her career, Valerie has had the privilege of designing, implementing and evaluating online, virtual, hybrid, and face-to-face programs serving thousands of youth and adult learners, representing an array of cultural backgrounds, socio-economic levels, and educational needs. Through this work, Valerie has had the opportunity to recruit, train, and coach over 300 employees, freelancers and consultants in facilitation and teaching roles. Throughout her career, Valerie has built positive relationships with clients, vendors, and institutional partners from a variety of industries and countries around the world. Valerie currently serves as the Program Account Manager for Corporate Education & Global Partnerships at UC Irvine Division of Continuing Education. Valerie earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in International Relations from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs with emphases on war and conflict resolution and intercultural communication and negotiation. As a lifelong learner, she has continuously developed virtual learning and course development skills and is excited to help build that capacity in others.

Leveraging the DEFINE PLAN MANAGE REVIEW phases, you can identify Stakeholders and the Project Sponsor which is critical. You’ll learn how to build a Project Charter in 45 minutes or less, and each attendee will receive a Project Charter Template to use for their own e-learning projects.

The ability to communicate effectively in a professional or personal setting is an invaluable asset. Your virtual presentation skills can impact your credibility and the influence you have on listeners. This seminar will provide you an interactive concept review of presentation principles and best practices, followed by feedback and coaching tips to help you engage your remote audience effectively and with complete confidence. You will also learn how to conduct effective self-assessments, peer critique reviews, and different delivery styles to advance your high-impact virtual presentation skills.

Instructor: Karen Nguyen, M.S., PMP, CSM has extensive experience in practicing and teaching project management framework, principals, and theories. Her passion is to deliver value and equip students with a distinctive blend of program management along with leadership skills for real-world experience and application.
