Public Health Informatics
A required course in the Healthcare and Public Health Analytics Specialized Studies Program.
This course aims to provide an overview of public health informatics and its role in public health services. It will address topics such as common skills and knowledge needed for public health informatics professionals, the intrinsic values of public health informatics standards and ethics related to specific laws, surveillance and security in public health, the application of big data and data processing concepts to public health data, the importance of project management in public health informatics, and information systems used to support epidemiological investigation and disease prevention. This course will culminate in a final project that combines the core skills learned throughout the program to develop a comprehensive public health informatics plan.
