Intro to Biosafety as a Career - Internship
A required course in the Introduction to Biosafety as a Career Specialized Studies Programs.
This is the second course in a two-part Specialized Studies Certificate. Participants will complete a 30-hour internship over 10 weeks at an approved internship location. The internship includes both virtual and in-person experiences, with at least 6 hours completed on-site at the internship location, for a total of approximately 12 hours of direct internship experience; the remaining hours are done through independent work on specific internship assignments. The course equips aspiring entry-level biosafety professionals with foundational knowledge and resources for designing, implementing, and managing effective biorisk management programs. This hands-on training offers practical experience through shadowing a biosafety professional and completing assignments that mirror real-world biosafety responsibilities.
Internship locations: UC campuses and other approved site locations (subject to availability)
Each campus has unique or specialized biosafety-based training opportunities, which may be available to the student at the time of the internship, in addition to the core elements
