This is the first course in a two-part specialized studies certificate for professionals working in the areas of life science research, and graduate and undergraduate students looking to enter into the biosafety field after graduation. Utilizing the combination of biosafety principles and real-world best practices, participants will be able to acquire valuable knowledge and skills to pursue an entry-level career in biosafety. The course covers key topics in biosafety, laboratory biosecurity, performing biological risk assessments, identifying laboratory types, understanding the hierarchy of controls, differentiating microorganism risk groups, understanding biosafety level requirements, and laboratory compliance.
