Designing and Developing Interactive E-Learning Courses

A required course in the E-Learning Instructional Design Certificate Program.

Interactive e-learning is considered a must in developing e-learning programs, curriculum, courses, and modules. This course teaches students how to apply various interactive e-learning practices to real-world learning settings, while providing students with a hands-on opportunity to build their own interactive module using a variety of the technologies and techniques explored. Students will experiment with highly engaging practices including gamification, storytelling, interactive video, scenario-based learning, badging and alternative credentialing, and other cutting edge interactive e-learning design approaches. Students will also unpack and apply the role of storyboarding, UX/UI design, usability testing, learning experience assessment, and the role of artificial intelligence in the development of interactive e-learning experiences.

We highly recommend students complete EDUC_X416.18 Principles of E-Learning Instructional Design and EDUC_X417 Exploring E-Learning Development Tools prior to enrolling in this course. Before starting this course, students must purchase or otherwise have access to an authoring tool like Articulate 360 or other comparable tool. It is also suggested that students have access to a video creation tool and a free ScormCloud account.
