COVID-19
Attention prospective students: The University of California’s approved COVID-19 vaccination policy requires, with few exceptions, that all students, faculty, and staff be vaccinated against COVID-19 before they will be allowed on campus or in a facility or office. This includes DCE students enrolling in an in-person UCI course. You must complete your vaccination verification no later than two weeks prior to the start of the quarter to participate. View the full policy.
DCE students must upload their vaccination records or form for exception or deferral on the UCI Student Health Center Patient portal using a UCInetID. A UCInetID is an electronic identification used for many online services at the University of California, Irvine. Students who are applying for a UCI course through Concurrent or Cross-Enrollment for the first time this academic year will need to activate a UCInetID 3 business days after submitting their course request. We will email students instructions on how to activate a UCInetID and access the patient portal to upload their vaccination records.
Students who do not comply with UC vaccination requirements, including COVID-19 vaccine mandate, may be subject to loss of campus privileges.
Grades & Transcripts
As a Concurrent Enrollment student, you will be graded like any other UCI student, except your name will not appear on the regular class roster. A few days after you officially enroll, faculty members can view your name on their Web Roster report. Your ID number for assignments and exams is the last seven digits of your DCE ID, preceded by “X” (e.g. X1234567). Failure to use this correct format may result in delayed grade postings. Final grades can be viewed by accessing your DCE web account. To view your course list, obtain receipts, or grades online, you must create an account from our homepage at ce.uci.edu. Click on My Account and follow instructions to create your account. If you need assistance, please call our Student Affairs Specialist at (949) 824-5414.
Grades are due one week after finals week. NR's are assigned if an instructor fails to submit grades by the deadline. If you receive a NR, you should contact the course instructor immediately to arrange for the NR to be changed to a grade. Grades earned through the Concurrent Enrollment program are recorded only at UCI Division of Continuing Education (DCE). They are not automatically transferred to the UCI Registrar. Students must purchase and submit their sealed official UCI DCE transcript to the University Registrar. Units earned through the Concurrent Enrollment Program may be transferable to the university.
You have up to one year (or less according to your instructor's discretion) to change an incomplete (I) grade. An incomplete grade can be revised only through arrangements with the instructor. You also have one quarter to change your No Record (NR) to a letter grade or it will default to a “F”; or “NP” grade per UCI Academic Senate Policy.
Visit the UCI DCE Transcripts page for more information about obtaining your transcripts.
Payment Information
For Concurrent Enrollment classes, pay fees by check, Visa, MasterCard, or American Express. Please contact us at dce-services@uci.edu if you will be submitting a check payment. Prior notification to dce-services@uci.edu and the post-date on the mailed check payment must be dated by the deadline given in your approval email. A check returned unpaid by the bank, a stop payment placed on check, a credit card declined or chargeback does not constitute an official withdrawal from courses. There is a $25 returned check fee. If you have unpaid fees you will not be able to enroll in classes until such time as full payment is made by cashier's check, or money order. If you find it necessary to drop, please refer to the drops and refunds section.
UCI Photo ID Card
Concurrent and Cross-Enrollment students are eligible to receive a UCI photo ID card.
UCI Library
UCI Libraries will be following a phased reopening after being closed due to COVID-19. Visit UCI Libraries for more information.
Courses with Lab/Materials Fees
All lab/materials fees are included in the course fee that you pay through UCI DCE. Keep your receipt in the event you need to show proof of payment. All fees are subject to change.
Maximum Classes
Those enrolling through Concurrent Enrollment are held to a maximum of 2 courses and may not exceed 8 units per quarter. If you are trying to complete a degree from UCI, you may exceed this limit only if you have a letter of authorization from your academic counselor. If you cannot obtain a letter from your academic counselor, or you have no future plans to attend UCI, you may petition with the Registrar of UCI DCE. Submit your petition or authorization letter in your online application, or, email to dce-services@uci.edu, with the subject title “Concurrent Enrollment Unit Petition.”
Students intending to transfer course credit to another college or university should first verify acceptance of the course at that institution.
Student Parking
A parking permit is required to park on the UCI campus at all times. Permits are available from the UCI Parking & Transportation Services, Building 7, Room 200, or you can use the metered parking spaces. Vehicles without a permit will be ticketed. For more information, call Parking & Transportation at (949) 824-7486.
Transferable Units
The Concurrent Enrollment Program does not award degrees. If you wish to attend UCI on a full-time basis, you should apply for admission as a regular student. Admitted UCI Students are required to follow the guidelines outlined in the UCI General Catalogue. If you intend to transfer Concurrent Enrollment units to a degree program at UCI, you should verify acceptance of these units with the Admissions Office at (949) 824-6703. If you are taking graduate level classes, please consult the appropriate department to determine the acceptability of Concurrent Enrollment credit. Courses taken through Concurrent Enrollment are transferable to many academic institutions. Please consult with the school you are transferring to before registering in Concurrent Enrollment to determine if the course(s) are transferable. UCI is on the quarter system. One quarter unit equals 2/3 of a semester unit.
Fees
Fees for Concurrent Enrollment are assessed on a per course basis. A $100 late fee applies per course for enrollment approved after week 2 of instruction. All refunds are subject to a $50 non-refundable and non-transferable administrative fee per course.
Computer Privileges
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides network access and email accounts to Concurrent Enrollment students. You can access these services by using your “UCInetID” (your campus login) and password. Your UCInetID needs to be “activated” before you can use it – this process also allows you to choose your password. Go to UCInetID Activation. Choose the link “Faculty, Staff and Students” under UCInetID Activation and follow the instructions. For your student number, use “X” plus the last 7 digits of your DCE ID# (for example, X1234567). Your UCInetID may be activated three business days after your Concurrent Enrollment registration is processed and it remains valid for the quarter you are enrolled.
For information on how to setup and check your UCI email account, please visit the Getting Started with E-mail page.
Computer labs are available for your use throughout the campus. Current information on drop-in labs may be found at the OIT Drop-In Labs page. For more information visit the OIT web site or call the OIT Help Desk at 949-824-2222. Option #3.
Campus Recreation
Concurrent Enrollment students may join the Anteater Recreation Center at the Affiliates rate. Visit UCI Campus Recreation.
