Adair, Takisha

With more than a decade of leadership experience within research organizations, Takisha Adair has demonstrated expertise in leading research operations through process improvement and change management initiatives. Ms. Adair holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Administration with a minor in Biology, as well as a Master of Business Administration degree. She has been certified as a Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) by the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA) and continues to be an active presenter at their annual education conferences. In addition, she is a contributing author to the SOCRA Source Journal for Clinical Research Excellence.
Ms. Adair previously held the positions of Clinical Research Coordinator, Project Manager, Clinical Research Operations Manager, and Director of Study Management. At present, she serves as Director of Research & Development. With a passion for improving the quality of life for patients, she has developed a deep understanding of the operations of the research industry. It is expected that students will gain real-world learning experiences through courses led by Ms. Adair.

Alan Adamo has forty-five years of business experience mostly as a Human Resources executive in a corporate manufacturing environment. Prior to his H.R. experience, Alan served as a Business Manager for a medical clinic and has seventeen years of recent experience as an Instructor for programs at Cal State Fullerton Extension and UCI Division of Continuing Education. In addition to a BS in Business Administration from the University of Southern California, Alan also holds an MS in Organizational Development from the University of San Francisco. He retired from full time employment as Corporate V.P. of H.R. for Fluidmaster, Inc and is now employed as a part time Instructor and H.R. consultant.

Appel, Morgan Phillip

Morgan Appel, MBA, AD, is Assistant Dean of Education and Community Outreach (ECO) at UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies and previously served as Director of Education at UC Irvine Division of Continuing Education. Appel is widely published and specializes in the development, implementation and assessment of integrated holistic solutions for underperforming schools. Before coming to DCE, he was Senior Faculty Research Associate for UC Irvine's Claire Trevor School of the Arts, and worked as a consultant for private and public schools and districts across California. Appel has also served as a professional reader and reviewer for the California Department of Education (Gifted and Talented Education) and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTEL, Reading, PASC and Clear Credential programs). He is an instructor in the CTEL, Gifted and Talented Education (GATE), and Parent and Caregiver Education programs at UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies.

Barany, Deborah

Deborah Barany, Ph.D., will tell you that the hidden pathway to becoming a stronger learner is math. In fact, Dr. Barany, or Debby as her students know her, sees the successful math student as a helpful example to the struggling learner--because in order to grasp mathematics fully, one must practice the unarticulated skills of learning, unleash creativity, and apply grit. Debby’s story as an educator began with mathematics, and she ultimately gained her Master's Degree in education from the University of California, Los Angeles. But it was her fascination with the science of learning that led her to the Stanford Graduate School of Education, where she completed her doctorate in Adolescent Cognitive Development.

Prior to joining Esports Engine, he worked at NYXL (the owners and operators of the NY Excelsior in the Overwatch League, the New York Subliners in the Call of Duty League, and NYFU, New York's Valorant team), Tespa, Blizzard Entertainment, and Esports Heaven. His career journey has seen him work in a variety of areas, including marketing, social media, events, community management, on-camera talent work, product development, and content creation. Dr. Dursun Delen is the holder of Spears Endowed Chair in Business Administration, Patterson Family Endowed Chair in Business Analytics, Director of Research for the Center for Health Systems Innovation, and Regents Professor of Management Science and Information Systems in the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University (OSU). Dr. Delen has over 30 years of experience in analytics and data science both as a business consultant and university professor. Prior to his academic tenure, he worked for a privately-owned research and consultancy company as a research scientist for five years, during which he led a number of decision support, information systems and advanced analytics related research projects funded by federal agencies including DoD, NASA, NIST and DoE. Dr. Delen has published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles and 11
books/textbooks. He is often invited to national and international conferences for keynote addresses, and companies for consultancy engagements on topics related to business analytics, data science, data/text mining, and knowledge management. Jason S. Dempsey, CEM, CBCP, retired from the Marine Corps as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Officer before serving in local government emergency management with the City of Los Angeles, then the City of Costa Mesa. Currently, he is the Executive Director for the Office of Risk and Emergency Management with the University of Texas at San Antonio.
While serving at the federal government level, he directly participated in the response to numerous real-world crises ranging from humanitarian emergencies to mass casualty events in the aftermath of terrorism. At the local government level, his participation has ranged from wildfires and mudslides to aircraft incidents and an oil spill.
Jason has a Master’s Degree in Homeland Security from Pennsylvania State University and a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Southern California.

Mark Deppe earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Cal State Fullerton and is the founding director of UCI Esports, leading the effort to create the award-winning program in 2016. Working closely with student leaders, administrators, faculty, and industry partners, Mark built a business plan that broadly approaches the world of esports through the five pillars of Competition, Research, Community, Entertainment, and Careers.? In 2018, UCI’s League of Legends team won the college championship and UCI was awarded “Most Outstanding Collegiate Program” by the esports industry.

Todd De Voe, currently is the Director of Emergency Management at Titan HST and is the host of the leading emergency management podcast show “EM Weekly.” Todd’s involvement in Emergency Response, Emergency Management, Education and Volunteer Management began in 1989 when he became a volunteer firefighter in Upstate New York. In 1991, Todd joined the United States Navy and became a Hospital Corpsman assigned to the Fleet Marine Force. After his service, Todd served as an emergency medical responder (EMT) in some of the most challenging neighborhoods of Los Angeles County. Todd received his B.S. in Public Administration from the University of La Verne, and his Masters of Public Administration from the California State University at Fullerton. Todd has served as Emergency Services Coordinator for the City of Dana Point, and was invited to join a steering committee for Coastline Community College that developed their emergency management program; shortly after, Todd accepted a faculty position at Coastline Community College. In addition, Todd is the instructor of Emergency Management at California State University Fullerton for the MPA program, as well as being an active member of the International Association of Emergency Managers and is the a member of the Region 9 Board of Directors. Todd is a servant leader at heart and is very involved in the community. Todd has served as a Parks Commissioner for the City of Whittier, served on the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross Rio Hondo Chapter, served on the Board of Directors Irvine Chamber of Commerce, served on the Advisory Board of the Whittier First Day Homeless Transitional Program, and served on the Board of Directors for the Organized Communities and Emergency Volunteers Association, currently Todd is serving as a member Team Rubicon USA Region IX, and is a special project advisor for the Warrior Built Foundation.

He is an author of two teacher-training books and has also published a cool little chapter role-playing games and ESL/EFL. Currently, he is involved in the design, and teaching of UC Irvine's Division of Continuing Education's teacher-training programs. The content of these programs cover English language teacher training (ESL/EFL), English-meditated Instruction (EMI), and educational technology training. Mr. Dupuy has been the principal curriculum designer for English teacher-training program for both the Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education, and Japan's national Ministry of Education. Roger has passion for the narrative arts, curriculum design, content delivery, game design, and emerging technologies. He loves to draw while listening and teaching. He likes to take pictures, create music, and is working on a new novel.

Shelly Wright is the founder of Wright1 Consulting, Inc., and co-founder of Survive Identity Theft.
Wright also holds several board positions and was awarded the 2016 University of California - Irvine Division of Continuing Education’s Distinguished Instructor Award. In 2015, Wright received the SoTec Inspirational Award which is conferred upon technology professionals who distinguished themselves by inspiring other technology professionals through admirable charity work and giving back to the community.

Jian Xu, Ph.D., is an optical scientist in Meta Reality Labs. He obtained a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Caltech and has worked in the industry on optical metrology, optical display, optical sensing, etc., for multiple years. He has published many research articles in top journals, including Nature Photonics, Nature Communications, etc. Jian has multiple patents licensed within US and internationally. He has taught at Caltech Department of Electrical Engineering for a few years on the courses of optical biomedical sensing.
