Project Planning
This is a required course in the Project Management certificate program. For the best learning experience, we recommend taking MGMT_X413.01 Foundations of Project Management before taking this course.
Focused on the creation of a baseline project management plan (PMP), this course explores the project planning phase, where scope, finance, and schedule are linked to deliver organizational value. Learners will master the transition from high-level requirements to tangible deliverables, integrating quality planning and stakeholder engagement into every stage of the lifecycle. Project finance is treated as a strategic decision-making tool, building skills in cost estimation and management reserve allocation to protect project integrity. Learners will also develop a risk-smart mindset to navigate uncertainty, identify threats, and leverage opportunities across predictive and agile environments. Through exploration of procurement trade-offs and building schedules that stakeholders actually follow, learners will develop plans that are both realistic and actionable. Learners will leave with a strong governance framework that answers the ultimate project question: "How are you going to manage this?"
