UC Policy BUS-63 mandates minimum insurance coverage for all contractors/external users.

Client, at its sole cost and expense, will obtain, keep in force, and maintain the following insurance with the minimum limits set forth below, unless UC specifies otherwise. If the insurance is written on a claims-made form, it shall continue for a period of three years following termination of this Agreement. Coverage required herein shall not in any way limit the liability of either party.

A. Commercial Form General Liability Insurance

(Contractual liability included) with limits as follows:

  1. Each Occurrence $1MM / General Aggregate $2MM
  2. Products/Completed Operations Aggregate $2MM
  3. Personal and Advertising Injury $1MM
  4. $100k Fire Damage (any one fire)
  5. $5k Medical Expense (any one person)

B. Business Automobile Liability Insurance

For owned, scheduled, non-owned, or hired automobiles with a combined single limit of not less than one million dollars ($1,000,000) per occurrence. (Evidence of automobile insurance is required if any vehicles will be driven by Client or its participants, staff, volunteers, commuters, guests, affiliated individual(s) on any portion of the campus other than open public roads and designated parking lots. Client must obtain authorization from University in writing prior to any such activity.)

C. Professional Liability Insurance

(If applicable) with a limit of two million dollars ($2,000,000) per occurrence or claim with an aggregate of not less than two million dollars ($2,000,000). If this insurance is written on a claims-made form, it will continue for three years following termination of the Agreement. The insurance will have a retroactive date of placement prior to or coinciding with the effective date of the Agreement.

D. Workers’ Compensation

As required by applicable state law and Employer’s Liability with limits of one million dollars ($1,000,000) per occurrence.

E. Sexual Misconduct Liability Insurance

(Also known as Abuse and Molestation) with limits of at least $1 million per occurrence and $3 million aggregate is required when the Client is hosting minors under the age of 18.

All certificates of insurance must include ‘The Regents of the University of California’ as additional insured (on the GL and Auto policies only) and as certificate holder and obligate the insurers to notify University at least thirty (30) days prior to cancellation of, or a change in, insurance coverage. Client shall furnish University with Certificates evidencing compliance with all requirements upon request. Failure to meet any of University’s insurance requirements shall make this agreement null and void and shall result in cancellation of the Event at Client’s expense.
