The role of a business analyst continues to evolve, and both new and seasoned professionals alike must stay current and adapt to changing times. Join us for an informative webinar as we introduce to you the newly revised Business Analysis Certificate Program, launching in spring quarter! Now shorter in length – just four online courses that can be completed in as few as six months – and with an even more practical, hands-on curriculum, the updated program will give you the real-world tools you need to master your current role or hit the ground running as a new BA. Our special guest, Kevin Watson, a longtime BA professional and the expert program instructor and advisory committee member instrumental in revising the certificate, will share with you the updated program structure and courses, as well as how the new curriculum blends the guidelines of both the Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA®) A Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge ® (BABOK® Guide) with those of the increasingly relevant Project Management Institute (PMI®) Guide to Business Analysis to help you master the required knowledge of both industry governing bodies.

Monday, March 12, 2018
9:30AM - 10:30AM

The increasing cost of higher education in the United States is driving a surge of interest in international English language options. Advising the high school student in the United States who is considering such options requires much of the same attention to the nuances of counseling, but also requires additional skills and knowledge. Familiarity with education models that differ from the United States needs to be acquired. Cultural adjustment to the host country as well as expectations of campus life must also be considered in order for the student to be successful. As a counselor, collecting the resources for understanding the mechanics of the application processes, finding the entry requirements for myriad higher education systems, and beginning to gain financial literacy concerning the requirements for international students for programs outside of the US can seem overwhelming. By the end of this introductory webinar, you will have gained several resources and tools for familiarizing yourself with such options in Canada, Continental Europe (particularly Holland) and the United Kingdom. This session, presented by Laura O’Brien Gatzionis and Sarah Contomichalos, will provide a preview of a new elective course on this topic launching in Spring 2018. The webinar will also include pre-registration advisement for individuals interested in UCI DCE’s fully online Independent Educational Consultant Certificate Program.

00493 10 Things You Need to Know about Spa and Lifestyle Retail
Monday, April 23, 2018
11:00AM - 12:00PM
ucidce.zoom.us

Retail sales in all sectors of the spa industry continue to be a source of "unfulfilled potential.” By that I mean a source of revenue, but also a tool for growing brand recognition and loyalty (read that as return guests). Spa is no longer just a location - it’s now a “lifestyle” that speaks to wellness, relaxation and healthy living. The new landscape of spa requires a rethink of what is a "spa product" and the optimal retail mix. When a 360 degree approach is taken to defining the retail space, we can set the stage to create experiences for guests and shoppers. Patti Biro is the owner of Patti Biro and Associates, a boutique consulting firm located in Fredericksburg, TX. In addition to more than 20+ years in the spa, medical spa, wellness and gift markets, she is the owner of a pop up retail store. Join us for an informative webinar as we introduce to you the newly revised Spa and Wellness Management Certificate Program! Now shorter in length – just four online courses that can be completed in as few as six months – the updated program will give you the real-world knowledge and skills you need for success in this ever-evolving industry.

00506 Microlearning: Creating Meaningful Learning Connections
Monday, May 7, 2018
11:00AM - 12:00PM
ucidce.zoom.us

Could professional development be failing to adapt to what is best for leaders and teams? According to multiple studies, adult learners average attention span is 10 - 20 minutes. Utilizing small, focused chunks of content (microlearning) and delivering this content directly to the learner how and when they need it leverages both technology advances and adult learning traits by meeting the learners where they are. During our session, we will discover how to create and leverage microlearning and technology to make both learning and the design process faster, more effective, and drive deeper learning. Please join UCI Division of Continuing Education in welcoming George Hanshaw, co-developer of the Graphical Inventory for Ethical Leadership and developer of powerful learning solutions that help designers and instructors facilitate learners to develop meaningful connections with content. The webinar will also include pre-registration advisement for individuals interested in UCI DCE’s fully online E-Learning Instructional Design Certificate Program.
