- UCInet Mobile Access
UCI provides free WiFi for a limited number of sessions. Detailed information about UCInet Mobile Access Registration can be found at UCI Office of Information Technology.
Alternatively, currently enrolled students may obtain a UCInetID. A UCInetID is an electronic identification used for online services at the University of California, Irvine. Services such as a UCI email, online library access, and Mobile Access (WIFI) require students to use their UCInetID and password in order to log in. It is for individual use only and students should not share their password with anyone else.
UCInetIDs are valid for one quarter. Students must be enrolled in a course to obtain a UCInetID. Students may obtain a UCInetID as they enroll for courses through our online registration system. Otherwise, students may contact the Student Service Office at (949) 824-5414, Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm (Pacific). The quarterly fee of $10 for a UCInetID is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Unlike UCI matriculated students, Continuing Education students cannot keep their UCI email address and/or Gmail account. Unfortunately, these services are only available to matriculated students who graduated with an Undergraduate or Graduate/Advanced Degrees from UCI. Those who graduated from the Division of Continuing Education certification program do not qualify.
Duo Multi-Factor Authentication
Starting October 19, 2021, all students utilizing a UCInetID will be required to use Duo when logging onto UCI services with their UCInetID. Duo is a multi-factor authentication system that acts as an added layer of protection to accounts by using a second source of validation, like a cell phone or token, to verify the user’s identity before granting access. When a login attempt is made on a UCI account, Duo will push a quick authentication message to the user’s device (phone or tablet), asking them to click “Approve” to continue logging in. For more information about how to obtain a hardware token, please email the Office of Information Technology at oit@uci.edu. Please include your UCInetID in the email.
A website has been created to help students get signed up and provide additional details and news announcements during the rollout period. Getting started is easy and well worth the protection Duo provides. Students may enable Duo prior to October 19 if they obtained a UCInetID for Fall 2021.
