AROUND THE WORLD WITH SHORT STORIES

Format A (not recorded)

The short story genre is unique … and countries and cultures diverse. In this interactive class you enjoy a short read, do some analysis, and gain a quick glimpse into an author’s perspective or another culture. Each week a volunteer participant selects a story, does quick research, develops questions, and leads a discussion (with help if desired). We will provide a list of approximately twenty stories which can be accessed for free online by well-known international authors, such as Maria Ortese, Anton Chekov, Haruki Murakami, Salman Rushdie, and Vladimir Nabokov. Volunteers may choose a story from the list or select one on their own. Participants must have internet access to read and/or download/print the selected stories.
