Around the World with Short Stories

Classroom Only

The short story genre is unique … and countries and cultures diverse. In this interactive class you enjoy a short read, do some analysis, and gain a quick glimpse into an author’s perspective or another culture. Each week a volunteer participant selects a story, does quick research about it, develops questions, and leads the discussion (with help if desired). We will provide a list of approximately thirty stories by well-known international authors (including Anita Desai, Junot Diaz, Anna Maria Ortese, Anton Chekov, Haruki Murakami, Italo Calvino, Vladimir Nabokov, etc.) which can be obtained for free online. Other free PDF stories are also welcome.
