OVERCOMING ADVERSITY: FINDING RESILIENCE

SS 311 OVERCOMING ADVERSITY: FINDING RESILIENCE

Experiencing adversity at some point in our lifetime is a certainty, but coping with the event is a challenge. Failing to deal effectively with adversity may result in increased social isolation, decreased physical health, poor emotional wellbeing and even premature death. Can one not just survive, but thrive, following emotionally painful experiences? In the first class, the discussion includes the influence of biology, psychology, and physical health on our thoughts, feelings and behavior. In the second class, we will learn how forgiveness enables us to let go of destructive feelings connected to the past and move on.

Presenter: Eileen S. Lenson, MSW, ACSW, BCC, a life coach and author of Overcoming Adversity: Conquering Life’s Challenges.
