THE SECRET LIFE OF GALAXIES
THE SECRET LIFE OF GALAXIES
SC 216
There are more than 100 billion galaxies in the observable universe and a single galaxy can contain more than a trillion stars! When you look at pictures of galaxies, have you wondered how they got those shapes, how they have formed and how they evolved? When did this begin, and will some of them collide? Are some much different than others? Is the Milky Way unusual or ordinary? This presentation will address those questions and more. We will also investigate simulation techniques used to expand our understanding and discuss current and future missions.
