WILD CANINES

WILD CANINES:
Wolves, Coyotes and Dogs
SC 215

Wolves and coyotes are encroaching on urban residences as their wild habitats are under pressure from expanding human land use. This lecture will examine the differences and similarities in the biology, behavior, social structure, historical and current ranges, and roles in the ecosystems of coyotes and wolves. We will compare these wild canids to our familiar domesticated dog and consider important questions such as, what is it like to hike and backpack in wolf country? The mission of Wolf Haven International is “to conserve and protect wolves and their habitat” and to educate the public on these amazing creatures.
