SC 214 HOW WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS WORK: Microwaves, Cell Phones and Our 5G Future

U.S. and Chinese companies are in a race to establish themselves as the world leader in 5G technology. Huge markets await the winner including smart phones, advanced semiconductors, the Internet, home and business communications and self-driving vehicles. How does microwave-based cellular phone technology work to bring us communications and the Internet? What technical challenges does 5G present, what new services will it enable, how will it impact our landscape and how is it likely to unfold over the next several years?
