December’s last issue of Science magazine, the weekly journal
of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), goes out on a limb and describes the major scientific breakthroughs of the past year. We will describe the selections, what qualifies them as breakthroughs, what the possible impacts to non-scientists may be, how future research might be affected, and what their status is at the time of this presentation.
