UNEASY LIES THE HEAD THAT WEARS A CROWN

AH 106 UNEASY LIES THE HEAD THAT WEARS A CROWN

Dramatizing the reigns of King John through Henry VIII (1199-1547), Shakespeare creates an extraordinary epic of social, religious and political strife to define England’s identity. Focusing on the tragedies of King Richard II and King Richard III, we will examine scenes - from the Wars of the Roses to the infamously evil or unjustly maligned Richard III - which suggest the origins of the Tudor Myth that led the Stuart dynasty to believe in Divine Right.
