AMERICAN SHORT STORY MASTERPIECES
The Art of the Short Story
AH 107

This six-class series is an interactive adventure in reading and discussing American short stories. We will analyze the techniques and poetics of selected stories and ask participants to choose a favorite story from the text, develop questions and lead the discussion.

A list of potential questions and ideas relating to the stories will be made available at the first meeting. If the selected story for a class is very short, two stories will be selected for discussion.

NOTE: Enrollment is limited to 25 registered participants. The textbook is The Ecco Anthology of Contemporary American Short Fiction, edited by Joyce Carol Oates and Christopher Beha. It is available at Amazon.com for under $20.
