Course Description

Embedded firmware can be found in many electronic devices today. Increase your understanding of the essential embedded language features required for embedded systems programming. Embedded firmware developers benefit from this hands-on course by expanding their knowledge of using pointers and arrays, bit manipulation, using key words such as" volatile" and "register", and learning more about source code solutions to common embedded firmware problems.

Prerequisite: Familiarity with C Programming. NOTE: Required Supplemental Material for this course: Microsoft Visual Studio C, Windows or Mac free edition.

Joseph Issa is an Adjunct Professor in Computer Science and Engineering. His educational background includes a Ph.D. in computer engineering from Santa Clara University. He has a master’s degree in electrical engineering from San Jose State University graduated in and a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. Joseph has both industry and academic experience in computer and electrical engineering. He has been teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses (online and on ground) in computer and electrical engineering. He worked 16 years at Intel Corporation in Santa Clara, California. Joseph’s research area of interest includes processor architecture, performance, and power modeling for different processor architectures using different cloud computing and high-performance computation workloads. He conducted research in processor architecture, performance and power modeling for different processor architectures. Joseph has authored and co-authored over 30 journals and conference publications in computer engineering.
