Advanced Accounting

A required course in the Certificate Program in Applied Accounting.

Course Description

An advanced look into Financial Accounting and Reporting issues. These include consolidations, reorganizations, international financial accounting, special topics in reporting, and government and not for profit financial reporting.

Early registration recommended. You may access your online course on the first day of class by 12pm (noon) Pacific Standard Time. This online course may include webinars using an online conferencing tool called Zoom. All webinars will be recorded and posted on the course website for those who cannot participate in the live sessions.

This course/program is a Division of Continuing Education offering not affiliated with the Paul Merage School of Business nor does it award Merage degree credits.

The required textbook may be purchased through the publisher’s website at website. McGraw Hill Connect is required to access course assignments.

Instructor


Sharon Brown, MBA, ABD – PhD in Accounting, is an accounting instructor who has taught for 17+ years, both face-to-face and online accounting classes. She has taught from financial accounting through Capstone courses. She has developed classes as well as revised classes in different online platforms. Brown has published an accounting capstone text with colleagues. Potential students may be interested to know that her teaching philosophy is one of growth and enrichment. She chose teaching as a profession when she opened her own accounting business and realized how many business owners did not understand their own business. She felt that as an educator teaching accounting based on the knowledge and education that she has achieved; she can make a difference in the lives of others. Brown offers the students exceptional opportunities to learn throughout their courses. She uses diverse examples and explains their application to the business world. She engages students and actively participates in their learning by being available to them through many avenues.
