Course Description
Your ability as a project manager to demonstrate best practices in project management - both on the job and through professional certification - is becoming the standard to compete in today’s fast-paced and highly technical workplace. In this course, you will apply the generally recognized practices of project management acknowledged by the Project Management Institute (PMI)® to successfully manage projects. Project managers who have proven skills and experience can find exciting, high-visibility opportunities in a wide range of fields. This course is specifically designed to provide you with a proven, practical body of project management knowledge and skills that you need to demonstrate project management mastery on the job. This course will be a significant part of your preparation for the Project Management Professional (PMP)® Certification Exam. The skills and knowledge you gain in this course will help you avoid making costly mistakes and increase your competitive edge in the project management profession. Students will begin their exam preparation journey by developing a personal study plan. To measure your preparedness for the exam, this course will provide case study exercises, practice exams, and practical tips from instructors who are PMI-approved and -vetted for PMP certification exam training. In addition to these resources, students will be led through modules developed by PMI, in creating a high-performance team, starting the project, doing the work, keeping the team on track, and keeping the business in mind. Students will earn 35 hours of formal project management education upon successful completion of this course.
Refund deadline is 10/2/2023. To ensure your success in this course, you should have experience with basic project management concepts and have some working experience with project management. You can obtain this level of skills and knowledge by taking an introductory project management course, such as MGMT X472.75 Project Launch. Upon registration, students will be required to complete a form in order to receive PMI-developed content which will be referenced throughout the course. Digital access will be provided and a hard copy of the student guide will be mailed. NOTE: This course uses required live sessions via Zoom. A device with audio and visual will be needed to participate. The student guide provides additional resources/information on how to use and access your courses Zoom sessions.

Instructor
Peter Kim, MBA, MS, PMP, is the Biz Ops Analysis Sr. Advisor for the Integrated Support Services Organization at Southern California Edison (SCE). He has over 25 years of progressive project and program management experiences that span across 6 industries – Food, Education, Non-Profit, Aerospace, Retail and Utilities and 4 core functions – Operations, Finance/Accounting, Customer Service and IT. He has taught at UCI Division of Continuing Education since 2013.
