Exploring E-Learning Development Tools

A required course in the E-Learning Instructional Design Certificate Program.

Course Description

Explore various industry-standard tools used to develop asynchronous e-learning and expand your knowledge by analyzing their features, usability, interactivity, and assessment options, cost, and support against various organizational and learning needs. Tools demonstrated may include Articulate Storyline 360 and Rise 360, Adobe Captivate, TechSmith Camtasia, ELB Learning Lectora Online, and others. Through carefully curated readings and videos from industry leaders and influencers, participants in this course will better understand which e-learning development tool is best suited to meet their learning objectives and organizational goals. Participants will explore e-learning development tools from the perspective of the instructional designer/developer and other key e-learning project stakeholders, including the organizational leader requesting e-learning, technology support teams, and the end-user of the e-learning – the learner. Throughout this course, participants will explore and compare the pros and cons of select e-learning development tools and apply their assessment to various real-world business case scenarios. This class allows participants to explore various e-learning tools and does not include training, tutorials, or hands-on instructions on using any specific tool to develop e-learning materials.
