Introduction to Business Process Optimization

A required course in the Business Administration certificate program.

Course Description

This course will provide participants with an understanding of the components of the Business Process Optimization framework and an awareness of the methodologies, tools and models that serve as its core elements. Participants will be introduced to business process architectures, process maturity models, business improvement standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and business improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma. Participants will also be introduced to the key steps involved in building a BPO framework that satisfies the needs of their organization.

Instructor


Joe Kausek is currently the System Director of Performance Improvement with SSM Health in St. Louis, Missouri. He has previously held senior level management positions with the Saudi Arabian national mining company, Ma’aden, Rio Tinto and Northrop Grumman and operated his own consulting business for over a decade where he worked with many of the Fortune 500 in creating and deploying quality and business improvement initiatives and programs. Equally important, Joe has a broad background in Business Process Optimization, having served as a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Examiner for the Pennsylvania and Michigan state quality awards, Director of Business Improvement, Director of Corporate Performance and Director of Vendor Quality. He has also served on the core team responsible for leading business process transformation of a large, global organization, and has authored several books on quality, environmental and health & safety management systems and assessments. Joe Kausek holds a BS in Human Resources Management and an MBA in International Business.
