Course Description

Increase your understanding of all phases of wages, salaries, bonuses and incentives as they relate to various industries, functions and levels of your organization. Learn how to set and reach realistic compensation goals and create realistic and comprehensive job descriptions and effective job evaluations while exploring the legal requirements of employee compensation. This course also gives you the latest facts about wage and salary surveying practices, the most advanced techniques for relating job performance to compensation and developing individual and group incentive programs as part of employee total compensation.

NOTE: This course may have optional, live sessions via Zoom. The sessions will be recorded and posted for students who are not able to attend. The Zoom meeting link and password to join will be provided in your course. A device with audio and visual will be needed to participate.

Barry Newton, M.P.A., CCP, SPHR, is Managing Director of Creative Management Solutions, Inc. and works with a diverse range of private, not-for-profit, and public agencies. With over 35 years of experience, he has also served in key human resources and compensation specialist and management positions with General Dynamics Corp., Hay Management Consultants, California Institute of Technology and the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Mr. Newton serves as the administrator for the California Public Agencies Compensation Survey (CalPACS) database.
