This is the first of two courses that apply theory into workable teaching strategies. It begins with the design and implementation of curriculum known as practical life, or everyday living activities which guides the child’s socialization development and works with guiding concentration, coordination, independence and order for the child. Based on curriculum design guidelines this course also introduces education of the child’s sensory development which assists continued learning. Actives include children’s experiences in art, music/movement and language and number readiness curriculums. Various methods for individualizing learning and classroom management are stressed.
Prerequisite: Education X321.29, Montessori Philosophy and Pedagogy, or consent of instructor. Additional Thursday evening and Saturday meetings are only required of students pursuing one of the Montessori Certificates. Internet access is required.
