Course Description
Further your understanding of Linux and its adoption as an embedded OS platform. Gain an overview of methods and techniques to design and create embedded systems based on the Linux kernel. The essentials of the Linux operating system are discussed from the embedded system point of view including selecting, configuring, cross-compiling, installing a target-specific kernel; licenses; drivers and subsystems; the GNU development toolchain; and tools used to build embedded Linux systems.
Instructor
Joseph Issa is an Adjunct Professor in Computer Science and Engineering. His educational background includes a Ph.D. in computer engineering from Santa Clara University. He has a master’s degree in electrical engineering from San Jose State University graduated in and a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. Joseph has both industry and academic experience in computer and electrical engineering. He has been teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses (online and on ground) in computer and electrical engineering. He worked 16 years at Intel Corporation in Santa Clara, California. Joseph’s research area of interest includes processor architecture, performance, and power modeling for different processor architectures using different cloud computing and high-performance computation workloads. He conducted research in processor architecture, performance and power modeling for different processor architectures. Joseph has authored and co-authored over 30 journals and conference publications in computer engineering.
