Nonprofit HR and Operations

This is a required course in the Nonprofit Management Specialized Studies Program.

Course Description

Explore leading human capital management practices of a nonprofit organization, including practical applications for effectively hiring and developing talent and organizational teams. To be successful, a nonprofit leader needs to attain the necessary HR fundamentals and managerial skills while creating human capital strategies that will lead to long-term viability of the organization. Topics will include: Talent Acquisition & Management Practices, Staff and Volunteer Roles, On-Boarding Strategies, Performance Goals & Rewards, Engagement & Retention Programs.

See enrollment confirmation for login information. Please enroll at least one week prior to the course start date. Successful completion of this course is applicable for 15 points in Category 1.B – Education of the CFRE International application for initial certification and/or recertification.

NOTE: This course may have optional, live sessions via Zoom. The sessions will be recorded and posted for students who are not able to attend. The Zoom meeting link and password to join will be provided in the course. A device with audio and visual will be needed to participate. The following student guide provides additional resources/information on how to use and access the course’s Zoom sessions.

Wendi Kroll is the CEO & Founder of Essential HR, Inc. She has over 25 years of experience working with companies and non-profit organizations in overall areas of human resources. She specializes in talent acquisition, employee engagement, training and development, executive coaching and labor law compliance. Wendi develops and mentors HR professionals to advance in their careers. She conducts research on employee engagement and methods in which employers are able to maximize and leverage employee engagement to increase their bottom line.
