Project Management for E-Learning Professionals

A required course in the E-Learning Instructional Design Certificate Program.

Course Description

Purposeful planning and project management are key to the success of any training program. In this course, students are introduced to the skills required to successfully manage the development and implementation of online training projects. Students learn various project management concepts and processes that can be applied to projects in a real-world training environment. The class will include techniques for managing stakeholder expectations in the context of organizational dynamics. Students learn the project management skills needed to manage the constraints of time, cost, and scope. The class will cover the human resources processes for organizing and managing the project team.

We highly recommend students complete Principles of E-Learning Instructional Design and Designing and Developing Interactive E-Learning Courses prior to enrolling in this course. This course may require participants to download and install some applications and software from the Internet. Due to high demand, early enrollment recommended. This course is approved for 25 PDUs from Project Management Institute (PMI).

NOTE: This course may have optional, live sessions via Zoom. The sessions will be recorded and posted for students who are not able to attend. The Zoom meeting link and password to join will be provided in the course. A device with audio and visual will be needed to participate. The following student guide provides additional resources/information on how to use and access the course’s Zoom sessions.

Instructor


Janet DiVincenzo, M.A., CPTD, PMP has been an instructional designer and a project manager for 20 years. Janet works as an instructional designer for the Division of Teaching Excellence and Innovation at the University of California, Irvine. In this capacity, she coaches and assists faculty in creating their online classes. Prior to UCI, Janet worked in many organizations as an instructional designer, corporate trainer, and project manager, leading teams to develop technology and training solutions. Janet has produced eLearning for many organizations, dating back to pre-Internet days.
