Exploring E-Learning Development Tools

A required course in the E-Learning Instructional Design Certificate Program.

Course Description

Explore and expand your knowledge of various industry standard e-learning development tools by comparing and contrasting their usability, publishing options, interactivity and assessment options, cost, and support. Tools demonstrated may include Articulate 360 Storyline and Rise, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, Lectora, or others. Participants will gain a better understanding of which medium is best suited to meet their learning objectives and business goals. The process of evaluating and selecting the correct tool and exploring the practical uses of each application and medium will assist the participant in addressing the issues of development time, costs, and geography faced by many industries and companies. This class provides participants the opportunity to explore various e-learning tools and does not include in-depth training in any specific tool.

See enrollment confirmation for login information. We highly recommend students complete EDUC_X416.18 Principles of E-Learning Instructional Design prior to enrolling in this course. This course may require participants to download and install some applications and software from the Internet. Due to high demand, early enrollment recommended.

NOTE: This course may have optional, live sessions via Zoom. The sessions will be recorded and posted for students who are not able to attend. The Zoom meeting link and password to join will be provided in the course. A device with audio and visual will be needed to participate. The following student guide provides additional resources/information on how to use and access the course’s Zoom sessions.

Coline T. Son Lee, Vice President/Programs & Projects at Everest CS, Inc., has an international career background spanning 15 years in logistics, supply chain management, procurement, manufacturing, construction, retail sales, higher education, and software development. She is responsible for researching and analyzing business and learner needs, digging down to the actual root causes of performance issues, designing and managing the development of customized interventions that bring real business results. Coline is well-connected to experts in the field of employee engagement, online learning development, leadership development and organizational change management. Coline has guest lectured for the University of Colorado, Denver Master’s program for Learning Design & Technology program, focusing on Project Management, and presented several concurrent and workshop sessions on instructional design and project management at international conferences hosted by the Association for Talent Development (ATD), Learning Solutions, and Project Management Institute (PMI). Coline holds a Bachelor of Science degree (magna cum laude) in Business Administration with an emphasis in Information Systems from the Craig School of Business. She’s also a certified information systems auditor (CISA) through the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), a Project Management Professional (PMP®) through the Project Management Institute (PMI®), and a Certified Professional in Training & Development (CPTD) through the Association for Training and Development (ATD).
