Secure Systems
A required course in the Cyber Security Certificate Program.
Course Description
This course will focus on design principles of trusted computing bases (TCB). Issues regarding authentication, access control and authorization, introductory cryptography, controls categories, media, backups and change control management, discretionary and mandatory security policies, secure kernel design, application development security, secure operating systems (patching and vulnerability management), and secure databases will be covered from a systems architecture perspective. Emphasis will be on the design of security measures for critical information infrastructures.
Recommended Prerequisite: I&C SCI X425.00 Introduction to Cyber Security

James E. Bowdoin, MS, PMP, CSSGB is the owner of MatrixPM, an IT project, quality management, and leadership consultancy. He has held leadership and management positions in Fortune 500 corporations, mid-market companies, small businesses, and the US Navy managing systems development and information technology projects for over 30 years. As an engineer and manager he held a Top Secret/SBI clearance supporting flight testing of advanced aircraft at Edwards Air Force Base, including the F-16C, F-15E, B-2, B-1B, C-17, AC/MC-130 aircraft.
