Course Description

Gain an understanding of the concepts an organization must address in preparing for a natural or manufactured catastrophic emergency event (fire, terrorist act, hazardous material spill, internal sabotage, etc.). Explore the practical steps necessary to develop and test a plan to assure continuity of business operations. Learn about business continuity planning professional practice subject areas including: risk evaluation and control, business impact analysis, developing and implementing business continuity plans, awareness and training programs, and exercising and maintaining business continuity plans.

NOTE: This course utilizes Zoom for weekly live online synchronous meetings. The sessions will be recorded and posted for students who are not able to attend, watching the recording is mandatory. The Zoom meeting link and password to join will be provided in your course. A device with audio and visual will be needed to participate. Instructor


Susan Zielan is a Business Resiliency Program Manager for CoreLogic in Irvine, California. She is responsible for the development and implementation of enterprise-wide business continuity and Emergency Management plans and manages training and exercises for the offices across the US and Australia. She has led efforts internationally in Europe, South America, Asia and Australia to create and customize effective business continuity, disaster recovery and emergency management programs for larger corporations. Susan is a Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) and the Membership Director of the Association of Contingency Planners, Orange County Chapter.
