Course Description

Program evaluation is often viewed as the final step in an effective approach to e-learning instructional design since it measures the value of training. This course takes an integrated approach in which evaluation and assessment are an integral part of the process, setting in place the ability to analyze the outcome to determine whether or not the learning objectives and business goals were met. In this course, students explore the models, principles, and practices employed in conducting effective and thorough training evaluations. Students will develop an evaluation plan, write a cognitive exam and performance test, create an evaluation survey, and carry out a return on investment analysis.

This course may require participants to download and install some applications and software from the Internet. Due to high demand, early enrollment recommended.

NOTE: This course may have optional, live sessions via Zoom. The sessions will be recorded and posted for students who are not able to attend. The Zoom meeting link and password to join will be provided in the course. A device with audio and visual will be needed to participate. The following student guide provides additional resources/information on how to use and access the course’s Zoom sessions.

Katina Shields, M.A., is an accomplished Learning Architect with over 20 years of experience applying adult learning theory to real-world business issues for diverse global audiences. The insight that Katina brings to her classes stems from her experiences in roles that include: Instructional Designer, Developer, Writer, Learning Strategist, Performance Consultant, Facilitator, Project Manager, Mentor and Coach. She has a deep interest in how adults learn and what motivates human behavior. She believes that effective learning must create experiences that move learners from passive to active participants and in humanizing the online learning experience. Katina holds both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of California at Los Angeles.
