Course Description
An in depth study of GAAP and IFRS principles. Topics include the accounting framework, systems, presentation of financial statements, time value of money, revenue recognition, valuations/estimates and special asset and liability accounting.
Prerequisite: Completion of Financial and Management Accounting or equivalent experience. Early registration recommended. You may access your online course on the first day of class by 12pm (noon) Pacific Standard Time. This course may use live sessions via Zoom. A device with audio and visual will be needed to participate. The following student guide provides additional resources/information on how to use and access your courses Zoom sessions. This course cannot be transferred to a UCI economics major.
Instructor
Wayne A. Hollman, Ph.D, has over 25 years of professional experience working in Financial Management. He has worked for some of the top brokerage firms in the nation, organized and managed a division of financial advisors at a large financial planning software company, and launched an internet-based financial services firm that was featured in the Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, and other well-known publications. In 2005, he began teaching online, and has taught various business, economics, and accounting courses at UCLA, BYU-Idaho, and other well-respected universities. A published author, Dr. Hollman’s primary research interests center on various areas of financial planning. Dr. Hollman holds a B.A. in Economics from San Diego State University, an MBA from California State University Dominguez Hills, and a Ph.D. in Finance from Walden University.
