A required course in the Personal Financial Planning Certificate Program.

Course Description

Learn the key components of a comprehensive retirement needs analysis. Stock options, non-qualified deferred compensation plans, non-pension-related benefits, tax favored corporate retirement plans, and non-corporate retirement plans will be explored.

Early registration recommended. The HP-12C or HP-10BII calculator is required. Required prerequisites: MGMT X433.20 Principles of Financial Planning and MGMT X433 Survey of Personal Financial Planning or equivalent experience. This course is required to sit for the CFP Examination. You may access your online course on the first day of class by 12pm (noon) Pacific Standard Time. This course may use live sessions via Zoom. A device with audio and visual will be needed to participate. The following student guide provides additional resources/information on how to use and access your courses Zoom sessions. Textbook may be purchased directly from the publisher Money Education on their website or by calling (888) 295-6023. NOTE: The 17th edition of the textbook is scheduled for release in June 2021, prior to course start. When purchasing your textbook, please note you are a UCI student to ensure timely access to the text. Please do not purchase a used book. Only new books will have the unused access code for the online resources.
