Course Description

Examine various fundraising models and practices, including campaign development, grassroots efforts, planned giving, contributor recruitment, annual gifts, and grant writing. This course looks at fundraising from the perspective of individuals, corporations, and foundations, and presents students with models of donor/prospect identification and development.

See enrollment confirmation for login information. Please enroll at least one week prior to the course start date. Successful completion of this course is applicable for 15 points in Category 1.B – Education of the CFRE International application for initial certification and/or recertification.

NOTE: This course may have optional, live sessions via Zoom. The sessions will be recorded and posted for students who are not able to attend. The Zoom meeting link and password to join will be provided in the course. A device with audio and visual will be needed to participate. The following student guide provides additional resources/information on how to use and access the course’s Zoom sessions.

Kerry Watterson, M.S., M.F.A., CFRE, is the managing partner of Fundraising Well, a boutique consulting firm that serves both nonprofits and philanthropists by developing specific and sophisticated strategies to maximize their impact for good. In his 23-year career, Kerry has leveraged more than a billion dollars in traditional philanthropy and innovative social impact investments and has also designed earned revenue opportunities through public/private partnerships to solve some of society’s greatest challenges and inequities. Kerry served on the Board of Directors and as the Chair of Government Relations & Ethics for the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) NYC, where he led lobbying and advocacy efforts for the fundraising profession and field of philanthropy. He currently serves as an Independent Director for A Call To Men.
