Course Description

This course is designed to prepare students with an interest in pursuing a career in the industry of sport facility and event management. The course will provide students with opportunities to acquire professional skills that can be applied in an array of career positions within sport facility and event management. Among the topics to be explored will be: Trends and design of facilities, the sport event planning process, facility and event operations, risk management, and sport event marketing.

This course is an online course, utilizing Zoom Meeting for weekly live synchronous sessions. To join your course meetings, you will need to enter a password. Your session password associated with your course will be shared in the announcement in your online course. All of your course sessions using Zoom will be recorded and posted on the course website for those who cannot participate in the live sessions, which will also require the password for you to listen to them. Students will need to have access to the internet, have speakers and a microphone to participate in their courses synchronous sessions

Kelly K.Perkins, B.A., M.A., Ed.D, is currently a physical education teacher in the Corona Norco Unified School District, at El Cerrito Middle School. She also is a rater for ETS for the Praxis Physical Education Content and Design Tests. With over 15 years of site educational teaching experience in the field of physical education, Kelly is a proven leader in her field of expertise, has been a department chair, and earned the highest degree in her field in a doctorate in education in sports management. While at the United States Sports Academy, Kelly earned her doctorate through the Learning Management System, Canvas, and is highly qualified to teach distance learning. She is a contributing member to the topic of home field / court advantage as her dissertation was published. She has a certificate to become an administrator, but enjoys site education to make a greater impact in children’s lives and in sports management.
