Course Description

Managing change in an organization is a dynamic process. Effective change maximizes the alignment between an organization's strategies, structure, systems and culture. It requires an understanding of the systemic interrelationships among these factors and how changes in one can affect another. This course focuses on planning and implementing change in organizations, with an emphasis on the role of leadership within an organization. Participants examine the role of leadership and the competencies and skills required of individuals who initiate, manage, and are affected by change.

NOTE: This course will meet in live sessions via Zoom. The sessions will be recorded and posted for students who are not able to attend due to unforeseen circumstances. Attending each live Zoom session is highly encouraged if possible, as group activities will take place in Zoom. Additional readings, assignments, and/or quizzes may also be assigned weekly in the online course. The Zoom meeting link and password to join will be provided in your course. A device with audio and visual will be needed to participate. The following student guide provides additional resources/information on how to use and access your courses Zoom sessions.

Alan Adamo has forty-five years of business experience mostly as a Human Resources executive in a corporate manufacturing environment. Prior to his H.R. experience, Alan served as a Business Manager for a medical clinic and has seventeen years of recent experience as an Instructor for programs at Cal State Fullerton Extension and UCI Division of Continuing Education. In addition to a BS in Business Administration from the University of Southern California, Alan also holds an MS in Organizational Development from the University of San Francisco. He retired from full time employment as Corporate V.P. of H.R. for Fluidmaster, Inc and is now employed as a part time Instructor and H.R. consultant.
