Driving Innovation through Technology and Meaning

Innovation is fueled by new technologies that yield product and services beneficial and meaningful to the marketplace. In this course students will discover ways to clearly define product meaning and leverage technology to drive innovation. Through case studies, students will learn how product breakthroughs happen in both established and start-up organizations. Students will be exposed to exciting new technologies that inspire innovative ideas and products. Key processes and tools including Design Thinking that support ideation, creative thought and implementation are also covered. Inclusive techniques to inspire and harness creative energy from across the organization are discussed along with processes to assess and mediate risk. Students will learn how to create a persuasive business case including opportunity financing and unit economic analysis. Product development tools and concepts such as Digital Twin, Model Based Engineering (MBE) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) that shorten time to market and reduce costs will also be covered. Students will learn how to orchestrate a variety of personality styles to maximize teamwork, operational efficiency, and innovation.
