Lean Six Sigma Descriptive Statistics

Course Description

This required Green Belt course will provide participants with a solid foundation for identifying, gathering and analyzing data to make informed project decisions. It will introduce participants to basic descriptive statistics, including probability, measurements of central tendency and dispersion, calculation and interpretation of key statistical metrics, and graphical display of data. The course also covers hypothesis testing and its application to acceptance sampling, and statistical process control. The participants will learn how to construct and interpret process control charts, and perform measurement systems analysis (gage reproducibility and repeatability studies). Knowledge of mathematics at the pre-calculus level is required, but no prior knowledge of statistics is assumed.

Bill Levinson, P.E., FASQ, is the owner of Levinson Productivity Systems, P.C. which specializes in advanced industrial statistics, quality management systems, and lean manufacturing. He worked previously for Harris Semiconductor and IBM. Bill Levinson has a master's in Chemical Engineering, and an MBA and a master's in Operations Research and Applied Statistics. He holds ASQ certifications including Certified Six Sigma Black Belt, and also certifications from the Society of Manufacturing and APICS. He is the author of books on management, quality, and applied statistics including statistical process control for non-normal distributions.
