Data Mining, Visualization and Decisioning for Healthcare

Course Description

This course introduces topics on data mining and visualization tools that are necessary to facilitate the decision-making process to improve healthcare outcomes and support strategic and operational decisions. Students review basic concepts, principles, methods, design and implementation techniques, and applications of data mining and data visualization models and applications. Students gain core competency skills in data mining to access and create processed datasets, compatible for creating visualization tools such as dashboards, executive summaries, and clinical and operational reports to optimize clinical and business outcomes.

Prerequisites: PUBHLTH X400 Healthcare Analytics may be instrumental before taking this course if one does not already have an overview understanding of the field. An understanding of how to use MS-Excel for some data preparation operations is useful.

Instructor


Dr. Mountasser Kadrie has over 30 years of healthcare executive management experience gained from holding executive leadership appointments at world-renowned health systems and leading academic medical centers. Dr. Kadrie’s executive expertise has been focused on the development and implementation of strategies to maximize organizational performance and to promote transformational change. Dr. Kadrie is a Fellow at the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and Fellow at the American College of Medical Practice Executives (FACMPE). He is a Board-Certified Examiner with the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Performance Program, and Certified Professional in Health Management Information Systems (CPHIMS). Dr. Kadrie is a subject matter expert and has also consulted extensively with universities, national and international healthcare organizations, and higher education institutions in areas of strategy, program development, change management, and sustainability. Dr. Kadrie enjoys international traveling, photography, and outdoor activities.
