This course will introduce students to the inner workings of the sport industry and what makes it unique. As one of the most competitive markets to work in, students will begin acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills to work in sports. Areas of study include governance, finance, event management, marketing and communication, ethical and sociological aspects of sport, and how to get a job in sports. Students will use informational interviews, resume development, and personal site portfolio development as the first step toward working in the sport industry.
This course is an online course, utilizing Zoom Meeting for weekly live synchronous sessions. To join your course meetings, you will need to enter a password. Your session password associated with your course will be shared in the announcement in your online course. All of your course sessions using Zoom will be recorded and posted on the course website for those who cannot participate in the live sessions, which will also require the password for you to listen to them. Students will need to have access to the internet, have speakers and a microphone to participate in their courses synchronous sessions
