Acquire a depth of knowledge in a variety of complex, public policy and governance issues to become a well-informed civic servant. Study the inner workings of transportation, land use, housing, public utilities, state and local taxes and economic development both locally and regionally. University students, local government employees, and individuals interested in local government policy making or running for city elected office are encouraged to enroll. This course is offered in collaboration with the Association of California Cities – Orange County.
Heather Dion Stratman, MPA, is a senior executive management and advocacy consultant with 20 years of experiences in the fields of local government, intergovernmental relationships, nonprofit management and strategic policy development. Her areas of expertise include land use development, water infrastructure management, housing, homelessness and health care policy. Ms. Stratman is noted as a leader in her industry and can often be recognized as a guest writer in national publications such as Governing Magazine, Middle Management Growth, and American City and County.
