  • Adamo, Alan A.
  • Alan Adamo has forty-five years of business experience mostly as a Human Resources executive in a corporate manufacturing environment. Prior to his H.R. experience, Alan served as a Business Manager for a medical clinic and has twelve years of recent experience as an Instructor for programs at Cal State Fullerton Extension and UCI Division of Continuing Education. In addition to Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California, Alan also holds an MS in Organizational Development from the University of San Francisco. He retired from full time employment as Corporate V.P. of H.R. for Fluidmaster, Inc and is now employed as a part time Instructor and H.R. consultant.

  • Allison C. Anderson, MAS, is the Director of Human Resources for Biocom, the leading Life Science Association in California. She has over 15 years of progressive experience in Human Resources within various industries including Biotech, Healthcare, Global Defense and Entertainment. In addition to her practical working experience, Allison holds her Masters in Health Law & Policy in which she has published works, national conference presentations and affiliations with various non-profit organizations.

  • Steven R. Antonoff, Ph.D. is a Certified Educational Planner and a nationally recognized educational consultant. He served as Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid and Dean of Students at the University of Denver. He is author of College Match and The College Finder. Dr. Antonoff is active in the Independent Educational Consultants Association, National Association for College Admission Counseling, Higher Education Consultants Association, National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs. He is sought as a speaker on issues of college admission, educational consulting, and higher education.

  • Appel, Morgan Phillip
  • Morgan P. Appel, MBA, ABD, is Director of Education at UCSD Extended Studies. Prior to his appointment at UCSD Extended Studies, Mr. Appel served as a senior researcher for UC Irvine's Claire Trevor School of the Arts and as a contract educational consultant working as a Professional Expert with the Program Evaluation and Research Branch of the Los Angeles Unified School District, studying the impacts and implementation of standards-based promotion and data collection by local schools. Prior to serving with LAUSD, Mr. Appel acted as a consultant for various school districts in southern California undertaking educational reform efforts including SB1X, SB1274, LEARN, LAAMP, among others.

  • Arce, Nick
  • Nick Arce is a Certified Healthcare Interpreter and Certified Patient Experience Professional who works as the Director of Patient Relations and Interpreter Services at Memorial Care Long Beach Medical Center and Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital. In this role, he collaborates with hospital leadership to improve the patient and family experience and reduce language barriers. Throughout the past decade, Nick has served as a Board Member for the California Healthcare Interpreting Association, taught translation and interpreting at California State University, Fullerton, medical and legal translation at Denver University, and Spanish for healthcare providers at Charles Drew Medical University. He holds a Master of Arts in Spanish Linguistics and Literature, Master of Library and Information Science, and Bachelor of Arts in Translation and Interpretation Studies. He is currently working towards completing a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration. During his undergraduate career, Nick studied abroad at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

  • Archer, Brianne April
  • Brianne Archer, B.S., M.S., a Supervising Engineer, is a licensed Professional Civil Engineer and a Certified Permitting Professional with the South Coast Air Quality Management District. Ms. Archer’s primary responsibilities include environmental site assessments (Phase I and Phase II), remediation plans, and human health risk assessments. Ms. Archer is well-versed is data presentation and evaluation. As a Professional Engineer, Ms. Archer has prepared several storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPP) and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans. Ms. Archer is well versed in regulatory compliance issues and has prepared plans and permits for state and local agencies, including National Discharge Pollution Elimination System (NPDES) permits, industrial wastewater discharge permits, hazardous materials business plans, compliance documentation for hazardous waste storage and treatment permitting, emergency contingency plans, standard operating procedures, and in-house environmental management plans.

    Ms. Archer has over 15 years of experience in environmental consulting. Ms. Archer earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Southern California in 2000, a Master’s Degree in Civil (Environmental) Engineering from California State University, Fullerton in 2010, and an Environmental Management certificate from the University of California, Irvine.

  • Aslani, Omid
  • Omid Aslani, MBA, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, is the senior director of Operational Excellence department at HireRight-a global technology and services company. Mr. Aslani is also senior director of corporate strategy at HireRight. He has more than a decade of experience in the IT and Operations working for Fortune 10 companies as well as startups utilizing Lean, Six Sigma and project management to lower operating costs and increase profit margins, thus contributing directly to EBIDTA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization). Omid Aslani has created from ground up CQI (Quality) programs and has taught and mentored professionals in his current and previous companies (General Electric, DaVita, and HireRight). He has graduated from the GE IMLP program and has worked in four countries, giving him a sense of operating within a variety of cultures and fine-tuning Six Sigma tools for best results in the current global climate.

  • Asztalos, Stephen John
  • Stephen Asztalos received his doctorate in Nuclear Engineering from UC Berkeley in 1998. Prior to matriculating, he spent six years as a consultant to the nuclear power industry. After receiving his Ph.D., Steve spent 15+ years as a research scientist in various industrial, governmental and academic settings. He is a coauthor of more than 120 publications in areas that include: astrophysics, particle, and nuclear physics. His core expertise is in grant writing and computer modeling. In 2012 Steve founded Academically Speaking, in which he assists applicants in the graduate school admissions process, and since 2016 has served as chair of the IECA Graduate School Committee. Since 2008 he has held the title of Adjunct Professor of Physics at California State University, East Bay. His current research interests are in stellar evolution and black hole accretion phenomena.

  • Srdan Atanaskovic, M.S., is the Technologist of Software Development Engineering at Western Digital. He has worked in the information systems field for the past 15 years as a software engineer, team leader and an architect. His expertise includes developing web, event driven SOA and microservice applications using Java and .NET technologies. Srdan earned two master's degrees and is Java certified and Microsoft certified developer.

  • Erin Avery, CEP, is an independent educational consultant who transitioned into private practice after teaching and working in higher education administration and in boarding schools as a chaplain and theology and religious studies instructor. Active on board committees of the IECA, and an innovator in new technologies in education, Ms. Avery is also a graduate of Oxford, Yale, Boston College, and the UCI DCE Independent Educational Consultant Certificate Program.

  • Amy Baghramian, J.D., graduated from U.C. Davis School of Law, Order of the Coif, in 2002, where she was an editor on Law Review. Her background is in civil litigation with an emphasis on insurance coverage, however she has previously practiced family law. Her most recent work has focused on preparing coverage opinions for insurance industry clients, but she has extensive experience drafting discovery and pretrial motions. Baghramian currently is an independent contractor. She is an active member of the California State Bar and is a member of the Orange County Bar Association.

  • Deborah Barany, Ph.D., will tell you that the hidden pathway to becoming a stronger learner is math. In fact, Dr. Barany, or Debby as her students know her, sees the successful math student as a helpful example to the struggling learner--because in order to grasp mathematics fully, one must practice the unarticulated skills of learning, unleash creativity, and apply grit. Debby’s story as an educator began with mathematics, and she ultimately gained her Master's Degree in education from the University of California, Los Angeles. But it was her fascination with the science of learning that led her to the Stanford Graduate School of Education, where she completed her doctorate in Adolescent Cognitive Development.

  • Marlene Blas holds a Masters of Tourism Administration with a concentration in meeting and event management from The George Washington University. She is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) with over 15 years of meeting planning and event management experience in non-profit, associations, corporate, biotech/life sciences, and higher education. By day, Marlene helps companies design meetings and events when they want to motivate, celebrate or educate. By night, she’s launching a start-up to help small businesses drive performance via social media. Her leadership in the industry includes board positions with Meeting Professionals International (at the international and local chapter levels) and was appointed to the Convention Industry Council Task Force APEX Glossary Project. Marlene is a frequent speaker on the subject matter of budget and risk management. She co-edited, Meeting and Event Analysis: Tales from the Trenches, is on the editorial board for the peer-reviewed, Journal of Event Management, and a chapter reviewer for Professional Meeting Management, 6th Edition.   • Lee Blumen is a practicing attorney who focuses exclusively on Mental Health & Addiction Law. He provides legal representation and mental health advocacy to families and individuals, where there are family safety concerns, on-going conflicts, or criminal charges stemming from someone suffering from an untreated mental illness, substance abuse and/or co-occurring disorders. With nearly 30 years of litigation and appellate experience, Lee has successfully tried hundreds of cases, and written and argued countless motions and briefs, including motions on death penalty cases and emergency writs. Lee was an Orange County public defender for more than 25 years, mentoring and supervising attorneys and law clerks, who have gone on to become judges, appellate attorneys, and skilled litigators. Prior to Construct, Katie spent nearly six years working in various roles at Instructure, including time spent as director of partnerships and as an instructional designer for Canvas. Before that time, Katie studied and practiced elementary education. She has presented extensively at educational technology conferences about open education and learning ecosystems and teaches a course on open education on the Canvas Network MOOC platform.

Brown has published an accounting capstone text with colleagues. Potential students may be interested to know that her teaching philosophy is one of growth and enrichment. She chose teaching as a profession when she opened her own accounting business and realized how many business owners did not understand their own business. She felt that as an educator teaching accounting based on the knowledge and education that she has achieved; she can make a difference in the lives of others. Brown offers the students exceptional opportunities to learn throughout their courses. She uses diverse examples and explains their application to the business world. He has worked as an English as a Second/Foreign Language educator for over 20 years and as a teacher educator for more than 10 years, and he has been assistant director of a university language program in Japan. He is the editor of two books for TESOL International on Language Teaching Insights from Other Fields.
