  • Adair, Takisha
  • Takisha has over 15 years of experience in clinical research. Takisha began her career in clinical research as a study coordinator for an academic medical center, followed by working for a cancer program consulting group. She continued her career path in clinical research working as a CRA, Project Manager, Site Manager and currently as a Director for a Phase I Clinical Research Unit. She has a passion for the development and mentoring of study coordinators, CRAs and clinical project managers. She has published in the areas of Advanced Site Management and is a sought after speaker in the United States. Takisha received her certification as a Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) through the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA) and remains active presenting at the Annual Education Conference. Students will gain lessons learned from the various clinical trial projects she has managed through the teaching she delivers.

  • Afram, Michael E.
  • Mike Afram, CTA, is the President of Karmel Shuttle Service, Inc.; Southern California Coach, Inc.; and EZ Tours, Tickets & Attractions, Inc. All three individual corporations sell passenger transportation services, tour services, and destination packages to the domestic and international tour and travel market. He has been with the corporations for over 20 years and has been involved with each and every aspect of business operations. He has helped to grow a small, single entity business into 5 separately thriving business units, 3 of which are deeply rooted in the hospitality and tourism industry.

  • Dr. Majed Al-Ghandour has taught for Wake Technical Community College and NCSU for over 22 years. He has a PhD in Engineering from NC State University. . Majed teaches Data Analytics for MBA Graduates as a Visiting Lecturer for NCSU using Data Warehouse, Cloud Computing and Security, Tableau, and SAS Visual Analytics. Majed also teaches with the Corporate & Business Solutions of Wake Technical Community College and helped in professional training giant RTP corporates in Java (Fidelity), Minitab (Catalent), SharePoint (Wep Clinical), and Advanced Python (DELL).His teaches Microsoft .NET and Open Source technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, Responsive Design, JavaScript, ASP.NET, SQL Server, C#, XML Web Services, Java, C++, PHP, MySQL, jQuery, Ajax, SharePoint, Drupal, WordPress, Python, R, SAS programming, Tableau, SAS Visual Analytics, SharePoint, Cloud Application Development, and Mobile App Development.   • Appel, Morgan Phillip
  • Morgan Appel, MBA, AD, is Assistant Dean of Education and Community Outreach (ECO) at UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies and previously served as Director of Education at UC Irvine Division of Continuing Education. Appel is widely published and specializes in the development, implementation and assessment of integrated holistic solutions for underperforming schools. Before coming to DCE, he was Senior Faculty Research Associate for UC Irvine's Claire Trevor School of the Arts, and worked as a consultant for private and public schools and districts across California. Appel has also served as a professional reader and reviewer for the California Department of Education (Gifted and Talented Education) and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTEL, Reading, PASC and Clear Credential programs). He is an instructor in the CTEL, Gifted and Talented Education (GATE), and Parent and Caregiver Education programs at UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies.

  • Archer, Brianne April
  • Brianne Archer, B.S., M.S., a Supervising Engineer, is a licensed Professional Civil Engineer and a Certified Permitting Professional with the South Coast Air Quality Management District. Ms. Archer’s primary responsibilities include environmental site assessments (Phase I and Phase II), remediation plans, and human health risk assessments. Ms. Archer is well-versed is data presentation and evaluation. As a Professional Engineer, Ms. Archer has prepared several storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPP) and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans. Ms. Archer is well versed in regulatory compliance issues and has prepared plans and permits for state and local agencies, including National Discharge Pollution Elimination System (NPDES) permits, industrial wastewater discharge permits, hazardous materials business plans, compliance documentation for hazardous waste storage and treatment permitting, emergency contingency plans, standard operating procedures, and in-house environmental management plans.

    Ms. Archer has over 15 years of experience in environmental consulting. Ms. Archer earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Southern California in 2000, a Master’s Degree in Civil (Environmental) Engineering from California State University, Fullerton in 2010, and an Environmental Management certificate from the University of California, Irvine.

  • Erin Avery, CEP, is an independent educational consultant who transitioned into private practice after teaching and working in higher education administration and in boarding schools as a chaplain and theology and religious studies instructor.   • Deborah Barany, Ph.D., will tell you that the hidden pathway to becoming a stronger learner is math. In fact, Dr. Barany, or Debby as her students know her, sees the successful math student as a helpful example to the struggling learner--because in order to grasp mathematics fully, one must practice the unarticulated skills of learning, unleash creativity, and apply grit. Debby’s story as an educator began with mathematics, and she ultimately gained her Master's Degree in education from the University of California, Los Angeles. But it was her fascination with the science of learning that led her to the Stanford Graduate School of Education, where she completed her doctorate in Adolescent Cognitive Development.

He also consults for Fallen Media and A.I. software developer Wizard Labs. Additionally, alongside seed investors from FaZe Clan, Jimmy founded a nonprofit esports league: The North American Collegiate League.   • Julio C. Barrera is a former US Secret Service Special Agent with more than 20 years of operational and managerial experience. During his career, Special Agent Barrera handled several assignments in the protection of US Presidents and foreign world leaders and venues. While assigned to the Presidential Protective Division, Special Agent Barrera planned and directed security operations for the POTUS and other Cabinet officials domestically and internationally. During the latter part of his career, Special Agent Barrera was an instructor at the International Law Enforcement Academy based in Latin America where he taught among other subjects, “Executive Protection Principles.” Special Agent Barrera was also selected to teach on behalf of the Department of Justice a course in basic crime scene principles in Mexico.

  • Tyler Barrett, Ph.D., Second Language Teaching, is an instructor of English as a Second Language at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Barrett has been teaching and training ESL/EFL instructors for over 10 years. He has taught English in public schools in Japan, and online M.Ed courses and undergraduate courses at the University of Calgary. Dr. Barrett is an editor of Asian EFL Journal and The Journal of English as an International Language.   • Adam Baugh, M.S., is a Client Operations Manager at Esports Engine, a turnkey esports solutions company founded by former Major League Gaming (MLG) execs. Using his 8 years of experience in the esports industry, he contributes to creating best-in-class experiences for esports fans and partners around the world. Prior to joining Esports Engine, he worked at NYXL (the owners and operators of the NY Excelsior in the Overwatch League, the New York Subliners in the Call of Duty League, and #NYFU, New York's Valorant team), Tespa, Blizzard Entertainment, and Esports Heaven. His career journey has seen him work in a variety of areas, including marketing, social media, events, community management, on-camera talent work, product development, and content creation. He also co-founded Rutgers Esports, the student-led collegiate esports organization at Rutgers University, the State University of New Jersey.

  • Judith Berg, M.A., has been an Independent Educational Consultant since 1986. She is affiliated with the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and has served as IECA President and President of the IECA Foundation which provides educational opportunities for underserved youth. Throughout her career, she has led sessions at conferences, taught at training sessions, and held workshops on counseling-related issues. In 2018, she was honored to receive the Steven R. Antonoff Award for Professional Achievement given to the consultant who has contributed the most to developing the profession of Independent Educational Consulting. In all her work, Judy emphasizes the importance of effective communication. Helping to provide perspective and open a path for students during an important juncture in their lives has been among the most rewarding aspects of her work.

  • Betts, Robert
  • Robert Betts has been teaching at UCI DCE since 1990. He acquired his Bachelor's Degree in English Literature from University of California Santa Barbara. He also studied Spanish and journalism, which included studying abroad in Mexico City. He later acquired his Master's Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from California State University Fullerton. He is originally from Los Angeles and started teaching ESL there in the late 1980's. He moved to Orange County in 1990 to work at UCI. In 2004, he also started teaching in the Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Certificate program to train future teachers, which included teaching in Korea for ten weeks.

Bradford, M.S.Ed., is the vice president of partnerships for Waterford.org, a nonprofit organization that offers a kindergarten readiness program for underserved and rural children without access to regular preschool programming. Prior to that role, Katie was the chief operating officer of Construct, a creative learning design company that provides learning and multimedia design services to school districts, universities, nonprofits, and businesses. Prior to Construct, Katie spent nearly six years working in various roles at Instructure, including time spent as director of partnerships and as an instructional designer for Canvas. Katie also studied and practiced elementary education. She has presented extensively at educational technology conferences about open education and learning ecosystems, and works closely with national early childhood education programs like Head Start and the Early Learning Institute.

She chose teaching as a profession when she opened her own accounting business and realized how many business owners did not understand their own business. She felt that as an educator teaching accounting based on the knowledge and education that she has achieved; she can make a difference in the lives of others. As a leader at Dow Jones & Company, parent company of The Wall Street Journal, Burns led the Western regional sales team and the digital team for Careerjournal.com, the recruitment channel of WSJ.com. She also led a team to maximize revenue as Vice President of Advertising for the Los Angeles Business Journal. For four years before joining Virtanza, Burns went back to her roots as a key account sales representative at Gannett. She is currently an instructor at The Ohio State Fisher College of Business, teaching Virtanza’s Sales Readiness Course every half-semester.

  • Cameron, William
  • William J Cameron served as a Special Agent in the US Secret Service for 22 years in a variety of roles and posts including the Presidential Protective Division. He provided protection to Presidents Bush (41) and Clinton, serving as the Lead Advance Agent and Site Coordinator during the 1993 Presidential Inauguration, the 1992 Republican National Convention and the 1990 G- 7 Economic Summit. In addition, Cameron supervised a 12 member task force investigating financial organized crime , working with federal, state and local police officials. Participated on the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force and the National Threat Assessment Center. After retiring as an Agent, Cameron spent seven years as the Director of Corporate Security at two international corporations before returning to the US Secret Service as the Division Chief & Emergency Management Coordinator, where he served for an additional ten years.

  • Dr. Dursun Delen is the holder of Spears Endowed Chair in Business Administration, Patterson Family Endowed Chair in Business Analytics, Director of Research for the Center for Health Systems Innovation, and Regents Professor of Management Science and Information Systems in the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University (OSU). Dr. Delen has over 30 years of experience in analytics and data science both as a business consultant and university professor. Prior to his academic tenure, he worked for a privately-owned research and consultancy company as a research scientist for five years, during which he led a number of decision support, information systems and advanced analytics related research projects funded by federal agencies including DoD, NASA, NIST and DoE. Dr. Delen has published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles and 11 books/textbooks. He is often invited to national and international conferences for keynote addresses, and companies for consultancy engagements on topics related to business analytics, data science, data/text mining, and knowledge management. He regularly serves as chair for tracks and minitracks at various business analytics and information systems conferences. Currently, he is serving on more than a dozen journal editorial boards as editor-in-chief, senior editor, associate editor, and editorial board member. He is the recipient of several research and teaching awards including the prestigious Fulbright scholar, regents distinguished teacher and researcher, and Big Data mentor awards.

  • DeVoe, Todd
  • Todd De Voe, currently is the Director of Emergency Management at Titan HST and is the host of the leading emergency management podcast show “EM Weekly.” Todd’s involvement in Emergency Response, Emergency Management, Education and Volunteer Management began in 1989 when he became a volunteer firefighter in Upstate New York. In 1991, Todd joined the United States Navy and became a Hospital Corpsman assigned to the Fleet Marine Force. After his service, Todd served as an emergency medical responder (EMT) in some of the most challenging neighborhoods of Los Angeles County. Todd received his B.S. in Public Administration from the University of La Verne, and his Masters of Public Administration from the California State University at Fullerton. Todd has served as Emergency Services Coordinator for the City of Dana Point, and was invited to join a steering committee for Coastline Community College that developed their emergency management program; shortly after, Todd accepted a faculty position at Coastline Community College. In addition, Todd is the instructor of Emergency Management at California State University Fullerton for the MPA program, as well as being an active member of the International Association of Emergency Managers and is the a member of the Region 9 Board of Directors. Todd is a servant leader at heart and is very involved in the community. Todd has served as a Parks Commissioner for the City of Whittier, served on the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross Rio Hondo Chapter, served on the Board of Directors Irvine Chamber of Commerce, served on the Advisory Board of the Whittier First Day Homeless Transitional Program, and served on the Board of Directors for the Organized Communities and Emergency Volunteers Association, currently Todd is serving as a member Team Rubicon USA Region IX, and is a special project advisor for the Warrior Built Foundation.
