EDWARDS LIFESCIENCES: 66 YEARS OF STRUCTURAL HEART INNOVATION

Situated at the head of Orange County’s biomedical corporate table, Edwards Lifesciences has been a global leader in cardiac innovation since its founding by engineer Miles Lowell Edwards in 1958. Greg Wright, SVP R&D Surgical Structural Heart, will bring us up to date on Edwards surgical products, which include heart valves and other critical care technologies. In 1960, Mr. Edwards and Dr. Albert Starr (U. of Oregon Med.) designed, developed, tested, and successfully placed in a patient the first Starr-Edwards mitral heart valve. Additionally, a member of the Edwards Transcatheter mitral/tricuspid team (TMTT) will discuss the current state of minimally invasive heart valve surgery/technology.
