The Growing Success of Non-Profits in Saving City Services

When the economy declines, budget cuts are almost inevitable for smaller to mid-sized municipalities. During such times, management will quickly conduct a reassessment of services, staffing, and facilities. In this webinar, you will learn of one growing city in Riverside County that was in need of closing down two major facilities that provided meals for seniors and youth recreation for low income families. After much collaboration, both facilities re-opened under a public-private partnership through two non-profit organizations. Today, not only have prior services been reinstated, but now additional services such as counseling, mentorships, job assistance, and more are flourishing. Please join UCI's Division of Continuing Education in welcoming Andy Ramirez, Public Works Superintendent from the City of San Jacinto, as he presents how local governments are growing services while reducing cost through non-profit partnerships. This engaging webinar will highlight what municipalities generally seek, success stories, building relationships with city officials, opportunities for municipalities to provide affordable facilities, and the basics of contractual language and expectations. The webinar will also include pre-registration advisement for individuals interested in UCI DCE’s fully online Nonprofit Management Specialized Studies Program.
