Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is now the most common chronic liver disease, and is associated with diabetes, being overweight, hyperlipidemia, and metabolic syndrome. NAFLD can cause active liver injury and even cirrhosis, and early diagnosis is important to prevent disease progression. Many clinical trials are going on to test new drugs for this common liver disease.
