TELEMEDICINE: Applications in Neurologic
TELEMEDICINE: Applications in Neurological Care
SC 207
Telemedicine is the use of telecommunication and information technology to provide clinical health care from a distance. It includes access to surgeons across the country working locally through robotics, consultations with distance-based highly trained specialists, access to personal medical resources over the internet, and patient monitoring from home.
In this session we will explore the current applications of telemedicine as applied primarily to the area of neurological care. We will discuss the state-of-the-art of current technology (such as smartphones, robotics, GPS systems and gait/fall monitoring devices) and how treatments for chronic care conditions are improved by telemedicine.
